Practical Assessment Exploration System
PAES® is a hands-on assessment of employment potential where participants explore hundreds of jobs in five career areas that are based upon typical skills found at community based job sites.
PAES is usually referred to by its acronym, but it stands for Practical Assessment Exploration System.
Hands-on Learning
How better to determine an individual's employment potential than to let them try all different types of jobs they might actually have in the future?PAES® allows participants to clock in and go to work in a simulated work environment.
- Participants in this program can learn life-skills, find out what job skills they are good at and discover their job interests and preferences.
- PAES® teaches skills needed for vocational training, placement and independent living.
- The program's goal is to determine what an individual can do on their own with as little help as possible.
- PAES® assesses and trains proper work behaviors, eliminating many obstacles to successful job placement.
- Participants learn through hands-on experience and are provided real and meaningful feedback.
Based on Research
PAES® is research-based and identifies aptitude for community-based employment, functional skills, interests and work behavior strengths and obstacles to success.- PAES® exposes students to hundreds of essential work and life skills.
- PAES® encourages workplace independence and motivates students to achieve more.
- PAES® is customizable to a students level of need, suiting a wide range of ages and abilities.
Assessment
PAES® provides three types of hands-on, performance-based assessments in one:
- Assessment and instructional tasks are indistinguishable.
- Reduced typical test-taking anxiety associated with paper pencil tests.
- Teachers interact with students.
- Identify immediate instructional needs.
- Adjust instruction accordingly.
- Mimics actual workplace settings.
- Assesses based on real-world skills.
