Professional Bio
Lockwood started volunteering in the Recreational Therapy Department at the Munroe-Meyer Institute in 2019 and quickly found that she was passionate about working with adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She soon was hired as a Recreation Technician in the department and in 2024 became an Adaptive Therapy Specialist. In her time with recreation therapy, Lockwood has worked with almost every program offered by the department.
She also completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities Internship through the Munroe-Meyer Institute. This intensive, interdisciplinary internship further developed Lockwood's interest in policy and advocacy for people with I/DD. Lockwood enjoys meeting and forming relationships with the participants and families who attend recreation therapy programs, as well as fostering relationships with her coworkers.
