Erika Schmitt, LMHP

Erika Schmitt, LMHP, is a licensed mental health practitioner and postdoctoral fellow at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Munroe-Meyer Institute Department of Psychology.

Schmitt is committed to eliminating educational disparities and supporting vulnerable populations in schools. Schmitt began her career as an English tutor and later as a social worker for refugee youth from Central America. As a graduate assistant at Grand Valley State University, she helped students with autism advance their study and social skills in order to successfully navigate college life. In 2017, she began working as a school psychologist intern at Muskegon Public Schools in Michigan, conducting assessments for the district, including its English/Spanish two-way immersion program. Schmitt went on to teach as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, training student-teachers at Sao Paulo State University and the Federal University of Parana in Brazil. She is a former international school psychology intern with Linden Global Learning Support Services in Germany where she provided psychoeducational services to multicultural students across Europe. She most recently completed her pre-doctoral internship in school psychology at Boys Town, delivering therapy to children and families in a pediatric outpatient setting. Schmitt is currently a School Psychology PhD student at Texas A&M University.
