Professional Bio
Birkel is an occupational therapist with experience in school based and outpatient therapy settings. She started her Pediatric Fellowship Experience with the Munroe-Meyer Institute Occupational Therapy Department upon graduation from Creighton University in 2018. After completion of the Pediatric Fellowship OT program, Birkel stayed to continue her professional career with the team at Munroe-Meyer as a full-time school-based therapist. She works with a range of ages in the school setting from preschool to high school on fine motor, sensory regulation and self-help skills. Birkel works with a variety of diagnoses including Autism, Down syndrome and physical/developmental/neurological disabilities. Birkel appreciates that each day in the school setting is a new learning experience and is motivated to create unique, fun, and functional interventions and accommodations to allow each of her students to be independent in the classroom and engage fully in their school experiences.
Birkel provides patient care services for the Department of Occupational Therapy at Munroe-Meyer Institute in a school-based setting.
