Professional Bio
Nelson joined the Munroe-Meyer Institute as a school-based therapist for Omaha Public Schools in October 2018 after working as a pediatric outpatient occupational therapist for over four years. Nelson felt like she was coming home when she returned to MMI after working in the department of recreational therapy, which helped kick-start her career. Nelson has always had a passion for working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and advocating for inclusion. Nelson has a strong interest in assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and durable medical equipment. Nelson values a multi-disciplinary approach to providing optimal services to students in the educational system. In addition to providing school-based services, Abbie is one of the Clinical Fieldwork Coordinators, as well as a Primary Mentor for the AOTA Pediatric Fellowship at MMI.
Nelson provides patient care services for the Department of Occupational Therapy at Munroe-Meyer Institute in a school-based setting.
