Christian Courson, PhD

Christian Courson, PhD is an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Munroe-Meyer Institute and a clinical psychologist in MMI's integrated Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Courson received a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2015 and then pursued graduate training at the University of Mississippi's clinical psychology program where he received his master's and doctorate degrees. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s integrated Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders where he worked in the early intervention program and the Autism Diagnostic Clinic. As part of his training, Courson has worked in private practices, assessment clinics, public schools and residential facilities for adults with developmental disabilities.

Courson’s clinical work includes the assessment and treatment of autism spectrum disorders, parent training, and the treatment of common disorders seen in adolescents with autism spectrum disorders using cognitive behavioral treatments.

His newest project involves the provision of comprehensive sexual education services (e.g., personal sexual health, relationship health, consent) to teenagers with an autism spectrum disorders diagnosis in small group settings.
