Equity and Inclusive Excellence
A wealth of data in business, healthcare, research and education demonstrates that diversity drives excellence.
The Department of Internal Medicine is committed to recruiting and supporting residents, fellows, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds that represent the diversity of our patients and community. We are also committed to ensuring an environment that is inclusive and imbues a sense of belonging for historically excluded people including racial, ethnic and religious minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities.
Inspiring Excellence, Leading with Equity
The vision for the Department of Internal Medicine's Office of Equity and Inclusive Excellence involves institutional, regional and national leadership and recognition in four pillars: People, Culture, Leadership and Education, and Patient Care and Community Engagement.
We are consistent in our recruitment and retention of faculty, staff and trainees from diverse backgrounds.
We foster a culture of inclusion and belonging within the department where faculty, staff and trainees of all backgrounds can be successful when they bring their authentic selves to work.
We provide reliable leadership training and education on justice, equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
We ensure that our patients receive equitable care and strengthen our ties with the Omaha community.
Get engaged with news from the Office of Equity and Inclusive Excellence
I am thrilled to announce the inaugural monthly newsletter from the Office of Equity & Inclusive Excellence, ENGAGED. An important theme from the departmental discovery process last fall was that folks wanted to have information about our initiatives, campus happenings, and bite-sized education opportunities in an easily accessible format.
“We look forward to expanding our justice, equity, diversity and inclusion efforts more broadly across our department.”
