Rachel Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson joined the Med-Peds faculty in July of 2016. She was appointed the Med-Peds Associate Program Director as of July 2019. She graduated from medical school in 2009 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, completed her residency at Medical College of Wisconsin in 2013, and served as the MCW Med-Peds chief resident from 2013 through 2014.
Dr. Johnson practiced primary care Med-Peds in Menomonee Falls, WI until July 2016 when she joined the UNMC faculty. She now practices primary care Med-Peds at Nebraska Medicine Fontenelle Clinic, pediatrics at Children's Physicians UNMC clinic and attends in the newborn nursery at UNMC. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is also active in the Maintenance of Certification programs in both areas. Dr. Johnson is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Physicians.
Her clinical interests include ambulatory POCUS, preventative care for both adults and children, using lifestyle changes to combat chronic illness, and women’s health.
In her free time, Dr. Johnson loves listening to audiobooks and podcasts and going on adventures with her husband and three children. She enjoys running, biking, swimming and traveling as much as possible.
