Extraordinary Culture and Environment

The UNMC Department of Internal Medicine is committed to recruiting and supporting house officers, advanced practice providers, faculty and staff who represent the range of backgrounds and experiences of our patients and community.

In 2020, the Internal Medicine Residency Program established a council focused on ensuring our residency reflects our patient population and provides an environment for residents to succeed. Members of the council collaborate with the Department of Internal Medicine Office of Belonging and Community Engagement.

Council Subcommittees

The council meets quarterly and subcommittees work on projects in between meetings. Subcommittees include:

Recruiting. Members of this subcommittee participate in regional and national conferences, such as the Student National Medical Association, National Hispanic Medical Association and Latino Medical Student Association.
