Rachel Johnson, MD
Assistant Professor, Division of General Internal Medicine
Dr. Johnson joined the Med-Peds faculty in July 2016 and was appointed the Med-Peds Associate Program Director in July 2019. She graduated from medical school in 2009 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She completed her residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2013 and served as the MCW Med-Peds chief resident from 2013 through 2014. She practiced primary care Med-Peds in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, until July 2016 when she joined the UNMC faculty. She now practices primary care Med-Peds at Nebraska Medicine Fontenelle Clinic, pediatrics at Children's Physicians UNMC clinic and attends in the newborn nursery at UNMC. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is also active in the Maintenance of Certification programs in both areas. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American College of Physicians.
Her clinical interests include preventative care for both adults and children, using lifestyle changes to combat chronic illness, women’s health, and transitional care for children with chronic illness.
In her free time, Dr. Johnson loves listening to audiobooks and podcasts and going on adventures with her husband and three children. She enjoys running, biking, and traveling as much as possible.
