UNMC Childcare Development Center

Young children playing with toy cups

Established in 1991, the center provides a child care resource for parents and grandparents who are students or employees of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.

Children are provided a quality program designed to meet their physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs through stimulating activities in a nurturing and accepting atmosphere. This is done with sensitive, caring staff working in partnership with parents and families. Our goal is for each child to realize his or her potential in a secure and loving environment.

The center uses an active learning educational approach in which students have direct, hands-on experiences. Children's interests and choices are at the heart of the High/Scope program. Children take the first step in the learning process by making choices and following through on their decisions. Teachers, caregivers and parents offer physical, emotional and intellectual support.

Upwards

Benefits-eligible UNMC employees have access to the Upwards platform and network at no cost. Actual cost of child care is not included. Upwards connects families with licensed home child care providers, babysitters, nannies and backup care. Dedicated care managers work with employees to find child care options (including weekend, nighttime and backup care) based on their price range, location and preferences.
