Dr. Jeff Gold speaks with Dr. Atul Grover, AAMC’s executive director for the Research and Action Institute, about how the organization is working on long-term health care issues. Dr. Grover describes his Association of American Medical College institute as a “think-and-do tank” that explores the trade-offs needed and hard decisions made when health care policies are made. Dr. Grover and Dr. Gold’s wide-ranging discussion includes the real-life intricacies of health care; the importance of strategic planning as conditions change; and other challenges and opportunities facing the nation’s health care and health education system.
