Winter kinda sucks, so I decided to check ticket prices on flights to Hawaii, found a great deal and clicked the purchase button. I was on a plane headed West in less than 12 hours after that search. Best purchase ever! It’s a quick trip, but just enough to warm my soul in and make it to spring. Turns out there was a surfing competition going on on the North Shore of Oahu called “The Eddie” during my stay. The waves on the North Shore in winter are pretty spectacular, yesterday during the competition there were 50 foot waves, and surfers out there trying to ride them. A local lifeguard won the championship, I’m not up on my surfing competition rules, but my thought is anyone who rides a wave that big and lives wins. Here is a video with some highlights of the day.
