Contagion The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has reported two confirmed cases of H5 avian flu, bringing the total to seven probable cases in the state. These cases are linked to outbreaks on dairy farms in the Central Valley, where most infections have occurred among farm workers. Notably, two workers from the same farm were infected, but they worked in different areas and were not close contacts. All six known patients have shown mild symptoms and were treated without hospitalization.1
Since the last update, 11 more livestock herds have been affected by the virus in California, bringing the total to 90.2
