(AMA) When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the world was caught off guard and left unprepared with how to handle this novel infection. As a result, it exacted a toll many would never have imagined possible. Yet despite the essential role of physicians in the pandemic response, little has been known about excess mortality among doctors, according to a research letter published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
