Nebraska Crisis Protocol

The provision of medical care during a pandemic requires considerable planning, along with the recognition that the delivery of healthcare services may change quickly due to the potential scarcity of resources. The Nebraska Health Care Crisis Protocol provides guidelines for how the medical community should allocate scarce resources when patient needs exceed the resources available. Nebraska healthcare providers hope to avoid using this protocol, but they must be prepared to use the protocol if ever necessary. The Nebraska Medical Emergency Operations Center, a state-wide, joint initiative with participation from health care coalition’s coordinators, CMOs, COOs, and health care associations, developed this protocol in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
