About Us
Mission and Vision
Mission
The Office of Global Engagement promotes global understanding and awareness, and advances internationalization efforts throughout the UNMC community.
Vision
Our vision is comprehensive global engagement for Nebraska and beyond, advancing UNMC’s world-class education, cutting-edge research, and renowned public service to meet the complex challenges of today’s interconnected world.
Our History
The Office of Global Engagement was formed in 2019 by the merger of the former Asia Pacific Rim Development Program, International Business (formerly UNeMed International), and International Health and Medical Education. The new unit is led by Jane Meza, PhD, who was named inaugural Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement in 2018. Read Dr. Meza's message.
These events were the culmination of work from 2017-19 by the steering committee of the American Council on Education Internationalization Laboratory. The steering committee provided guidance for a systematic and collaborative approach to international activities at UNMC. Under the leadership of Dr. Meza, members of the steering committee and subcommittees worked to develop both a strategy for the comprehensive internationalization of the UNMC community and a means to assess the campus’ achievements. More about the Internationalization Committee.
