Dr. Simet's primary role in the department is teaching. She instructs courses in gross anatomy and embryology within the medical, allied health, and graduate school curricula, as well as histology for medical and graduate students. Dr. Simet is actively involved in the College of Medicine's Training Physicians of Tomorrow curriculum, participating in every foundational and organ-systems block. She serves as a Block Director for the College of Medicine Respiratory Block, teaches residents and fellows, and contributes to graduate education through training, mentoring, and advising graduate students. Additionally, Dr. Simet is the co-director of the Master of Medical Anatomy Program, Director of SHPEP College of Medicine activities, Director of the HSA Anatomy Program, and oversees several courses.

Research

Dr. Simet’s research focus is on the scholarship of learning in graduate education. Her current project involves metacognition, evaluating and teaching students how to learn. In addition, Dr. Simet is interested in creating learning content, such as e-modules or dissection videos, and evaluating student use and outcomes.
