Dr. Guda is a tenured professor and vice chair of research development in the UNMC College of Medicine Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Anatomy. He also serves as chief officer of bioinformatics and research computing of the UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, founding director of the UNMC Bioinformatics & Systems Biology Core, co-director of the UNO and UNMC Center for Biomedical Informatics Research & Innovation, and director of theBiomedical Informatics & Cyberinfrastructure Core of the Great Plains IDeA-CTR. He also is a full member of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.

Dr. Guda received interdisciplinary training in molecular biology, computer science and computational biology, with more than 25 years of experience in research, teaching and mentoring, and academic administration. His current research focuses on the development of novel bioinformatics tools using computational and machine learning approaches to address deep biological questions in cancer biology, neuroscience, precision medicine, and microbiome studies.

Dr. Guda’s research has been continuously supported by funding from NIH, NSF, and DoD since 2008. He published over 150 peer-reviewed research articles on topics related to novel algorithm development in computational biology, systems biology, cancer genomics, and precision medicine.

Dr. Guda has been heavily involved in graduate training; he mentored over 60 members that include 15 PhD students and 14 postdoctoral researchers. He also serves on the grant review panels and external advisory boards of several NIH program grants.
