The following programs are only available to UNMC medical students:
Advanced Family Medicine Training Program
To meet the need for enhanced training for those residents contemplating rural or community health practices, the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) received approval for an advanced family practice training program in 1993, and developed a four-year program that requires a one year "rural procedures" fellowship and a commitment to practice in rural Nebraska.
- 4-6 positions per year
- Rural or urban underserved practice
- Open to UNMC seniors only
- Continuity clinic located at Durham Outpatient Center
The UNMC FM/Internal Medicine Primary Care Program is open to UNMC students only. It offers students the opportunity to either specialize in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine at the conclusion of the PGY-1 Primary Care Internship year.
- 6 positions per year
- 4 years requirement, including senior year
- Rural commitment
- M4 year includes tuition waiver and stipend
- Only available to UNMC students
- Must decide after year two (after HO-I year) whether want FM or IM Board Certification
