Carrying Out the ITEACH Values: Supporting Students with Accommodations

Requests for accommodations in health sciences higher education have been on the rise. Often, accommodations are unfamiliar to faculty who have not yet had a student who has had accommodations in their courses. The implementation of accommodations often takes innovation, teamwork, excellence, accountability, courage, and healing. This session will discuss the complexities of accommodation requests in a variety of academic settings including classrooms, labs, and clinical—while also giving you tools to support your students with accommodations and beyond.

Strategies for Adopting and Advancing Holistic Admissions Review

In this session, we will use the CliftonStrengths assessment as a resource for learning to leverage your strengths at work. The CliftonStrengths assessment measures the intensity of your natural talents – abilities which you use achieve excellence and satisfaction – in 34 distinct Themes. Using Gallup’s “Name it, Claim it, and Aim it” framework, Dr. Ethan Snow, a Gallup-Certified Global Strengths Coach, will lead participants through the foundational components of the 34 CliftonStrengths Themes and facilitate how to leverage your strengths at work. Topics that will be covered include learning about your personalized CliftonStrengths reports and using them to write/talk about your strengths/weaknesses, improve effective decision-making, and invest in more productive teamwork.

In the SAVE advanced communications skills series, we’ll explore Stories, Authenticity, Vulnerability, and Engagement as tools to say “Yes, and…” to yourself in a world that often demands perfection.
