Christie Barnes, MD

Christie Barnes, MD, specializes in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery. Dr. Barnes provides care in many areas of sinonasal disease including, but not limited to, treatments for nasal obstruction, sinusitis, nasal polyps and tumors, and trans-nasal endoscopic orbital surgery as well as anterior skull base disorders.

Dr. Barnes is the program director for the the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery residency program as well as the director of resident education. In the role of education director, she has created annual surgical training courses for the residents in the subspecialty areas within our department. She has worked on national curriculum task forces for standardized curriculum and continues to devote time to these efforts.

Research
Dr. Barnes' research interests include medical and surgical education, topical therapies in chronic rhinosinusitis, antibiotic use in the post-operative period for nasal procedures, cerebrospinal fluid leaks and skull base pathology.
