Kaitlyn Dougherty, MD

Kaitlin Dougherty, MD, completed her medical education at Creighton University before heading to Kansas City for emergency medicine residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. During residency she developed a passion for education and then completed the Medical Education, Technology, and Innovation Fellowship here at UNMC. Since being hired on as faculty, Dr. Dougherty has continued to pursue education, completing her master's degree in medical education as well as serving as core faculty for the residency. Her educational interests lie primarily in simulation and procedure training as it relates to residents.

Dr. Dougherty directs our Rural Emergency Medicine Course, a course that brings rural providers from across the nation in pursuit of the latest in practice recommendations and procedural experiences.

Research
Dr. Dougherty's interests lie in simulation as it relates to resident and student education. She has done extensive work with simulation design and innovation over the past years.
She is currently looking into the efficacy of simulation and how we can incorporate novel approaches to simulation within medical education. In the future, her goal is to incorporate new technology into simulation, as well, to further elevate the learner experience.
