- Define audience
- Determine learning objectives
- Decide assessment method (e.g., how will learning outcomes be measured?)
- Identify e-learning format (video, game, etc.)
- Download the educational research worksheet to determine options for your project and email education researchers from the Interprofessional Academy of Educators
- Choose your software — our team of experts can recommend the one that is right for you
- Borrow equipment from E-Learning Lab, if needed
- Decide what images, videos or music you need — if you decide to hire actors, make sure to have them sign a media release form
- Follow the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and all UNMC brand guidelines — refer to our Module Development Checklist to make sure you don't miss any
- Faculty review: Have peers review the modules for process and content accuracy.
- Student review: Recruit students to review the modules for ease of use and understandability (it may be helpful to ask students who have limited prior knowledge of the module's topic).
- Have your module added to the UNMC E-Gallery, so other educators and students can access it
- Gather outcomes and data (include student quantitative and qualitative evaluations)
- Consider publishing your project on MedEdPORTAL
What Is an E-Module?
An e-module is a 10 – 15 minute e-learning platform that has no more than one or two learning concepts and incorporates a blend of teaching and assessment tools that may include video clips, direct instruction, gaming elements and social media.
