Building Trust: Strategies for Discussing Opioid Use Disorder During Pregnancy

This e-learning module immerses learners in a simulated prenatal visit where they take on the role of a physician meeting a new patient at 24 weeks gestation. Through interactive case-based learning, participants will practice gathering a comprehensive social history, identifying key risk factors, and employing empathetic, non-judgmental communication when discussing opioid use. Using the TAPS Screening Tool, learners will assess the patient’s needs and develop a care plan that integrates prenatal care with opioid use disorder management. This module equips learners with essential skills to provide patient-centered, compassionate care in real-world clinical settings.
