UNMC College of Nursing Secures $4 Million HRSA Grant to Boost Nursing Workforce
The UNMC College of Nursing has received a $4 million HRSA grant for the “Innovative States-wide Nursing Workforce Clinical Preceptor Academy,” enhancing nursing preparation across four states. This initiative aims to strengthen clinical faculty, address recruitment barriers, and improve nursing education and cultural competence.
Precepting the Future Nursing Workforce: A Community Collaboration
In response to the nursing shortage, the UNMC College of Nursing has received a Preceptor Workforce Grant to enhance training for clinical faculty and preceptors in Region 7. This initiative focuses on developing a standardized curriculum and resources to support effective clinical instruction and address the evolving needs of the nursing workforce.
Nursing HRSA grant leads to regional clinical instruction network
The Midwest Clinical Instruction Regional Network, funded by a $4 million HRSA grant, recently presented survey findings on clinical education. Key insights revealed that while preceptors are driven by altruism, there is a need for better recognition, improved site orientation, and enhanced preceptor training.
Webinar series will promote wellness in nursing
The Nebraska Collaborative Investment in Nurses is offering three webinars on wellness for the nursing profession. Topics include creating healthy work environments, managing secondary traumatic stress, and mindful communication. NU leadership development program names new fellows
Sixteen University of Nebraska faculty members are participating in the “Developing Excellence in Academic Leaders” (NU DEAL) program to enhance their leadership skills and tackle key academic issues. Applications for the next cohort open in spring 2025.
College of Nursing partners on wound and ostomy events
UNMC CiPDI is partnering with the Nebraska WOCN Society for two events: the “Pursuit to Excellence” conference on April 21 and the “Ostomy Workshop” on April 20. Both offer contact hours and expert training for healthcare professionals.
