Current Research Summary:

or the past several years, my research interests have been driven by the interests of those nurses I partner with, support, and mentor through the research process as part of my Clinical Nurse Specialist role at Children's. Beyond these research activities, my personal research interests generally relate to: 1) clinical practice or systems supporting pediatric acute care nursing – PIV insertion, patient acuity system, preventions of nurse-sensitive hospital acquired conditions, and use of RN driven protocols; 2) development of an evidence-based nursing culture – evaluation of professional development programs’ impact on nursing research/EBP culture; and 3) implementation research associated with nurses’ sustained adoption of evidence-based practice and impact on patient outcomes. The latter research interest is an area I have participated in using quality improvement methodology; however, would very much like an opportunity to move this work to a research level of inquiry in the future. Although many of my research interests are focused on nursing topics, collaboration with providers and other allied health professionals is always the goal while working toward improving structures, processes, and clinical care to advance patient outcomes.
