The Spring 2020 Intramural season will last a maximum of 8 weeks. Those 8 weeks will be made up of a 6-week regular season phase followed by a 2-week playoff phase. During the 6-week regular season phase, teams will play each other in round-robin format. Teams are also guaranteed 1 BYE week to accommodate spring breaks. Teams will qualify for the playoff phase based on their regular season results. The playoffs will consist of a single-elimination postseason tournament. The winning teams from each playoff tournament will be awarded intramural t-shirts.

About Intramural Leagues

Intramural leagues are athletic competitions organized for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine faculty/staff/students and their families (parents/spouses/children).

Within each league, games are played on the same day every week for a period of 4-11 weeks (depending on the sport and season. A league usually consists of a round-robin (or regular season) phase followed by a post-season playoff tournament. If there is a tournament, the regular season phase will determine seeding for the playoff tournament. The winners of the tournament will be named league champions and will be awarded the intramural championship t-shirts at no additional cost to the winning teams.

In addition, individuals who don't belong to any of the previously mentioned groups may participate. The number of non-UNMC/Nebraska Medicine individuals allowed on a team is subject to sport-specific limitations.

Competitive Divisions

In order to keep leagues competitive while still being inclusive of players at all different skill and ability levels, several leagues are split into more than one division. Teams will only play other teams that elect to play in the same division. The divisions are described below.

Elite (Division 1) - The Elite division is the most competitive division for intramural leagues at UNMC. Participants in this division generally have a wealth of experience in the sport they play and are looking to play other highly experienced players.

Intermediate (Division 2) - The Intermediate division is new for 2020! As the name suggests, the level of competition falls between the Elite and Recreational divisions. The Intermediate division is ideal for participants who aren't experts at their sport but desire a quicker, more competitive pace than the Recreational division.

Recreational (Division 3) - The Recreational division is the most casual level of intramural leagues at UNMC. Teams in the Recreational division are generally composed of participants who are new to the sport and/or primarily interested in playing for fun/leisure.
