Winter Outdoor Season
The Winter 2019-2020 season will be played during the first 2 weeks of December and the last 4 weeks of January. The Winter season will conclude by Thursday, January 30, with the ice rink itself will close after Sunday, February 2, 2020.
All Curling and Broomball leagues will run for 6 weeks. Play begins the week of December 1 and continues the week of December 8. Following the second week of play, there is a 3-week Holiday Break beginning the week of December 15. During this break, there will be NO GAMES, and the ice rink will be available for open skating. Leagues will resume the week of January 5 for the third week of play, and will continue through the rest of January.
The first 4 weeks of the Curling and Broomball leagues will be the regular season phase. Teams will all play each other to determine seeding for the postseason playoff tournament which will take place during the final 2 weeks of the season. This tournament will be single-elimination, and the winners of each tournament are awarded the Winter Intramural Championship T-Shirts and bragging rights for the year.
About Intramural Leagues
Intramural leagues are athletic competitions organized for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine faculty/staff/students and their families (parents/spouses/children).
Within each league, games are played on the same day every week for a period of 4-11 weeks (depending on the sport and season. A league usually consists of a round-robin (or regular season) phase followed by a post-season playoff tournament. If there is a tournament, the regular season phase will determine seeding for the playoff tournament. The winners of the tournament will be named league champions and will be awarded the intramural championship t-shirts at no additional cost to the winning teams.

Who May Participate?
Registration for intramural leagues is open to UNMC/Nebraska Medicine staff, faculty, students volunteers, retirees, and the spouse/parents/children (aged 16 or older) of anyone who belongs to any of the previously mentioned groups.
In addition, individuals who don't belong to any of the previously mentioned groups may participate. The number of non-UNMC/Nebraska Medicine individuals allowed on a team is subject to sport-specific limitations.
Competition in many of the leagues is offered at two separate levels in order to accommodate players of all skill levels. That means that one team will only play other teams who elect to play in the same division. The divisions are described below
Elite (Division 1) - Participants on Elite-division teams are generally more experienced and play at a faster, more competitive pace.
Recreational (Division 2) - Participants on Recreational-division teams are generally more interested in playing for fun. Games are competitive, but are not played at as high of a competitive standard as Elite-division games.
Refunds for Intramural Leagues are available up to seven calendar days before the first scheduled date of play. No refunds will be given after that point.
