4th Annual Cancer Risk and Prevention Symposium

This symposium offers diverse sessions to address key aspects of cancer prevention, risk assessment, and early detection. Topics include the role of obesity, tobacco cessation, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, and environmental factors in cancer risk, as well as insights into emerging areas such as clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and high-risk breast lesion management.
Participants will explore advancements in genetic testing, including updates on who qualifies and the future impact of the Genetic Insights Project. The symposium also emphasizes practical applications, with discussions on colon and ovarian cancer screening modalities, updates to screening policies, and strategies to increase HPV vaccination rates.
A session on health disparities will highlight the importance of personalized care and equitable access to preventive services. With interactive opportunities, such as networking over lunch and vendor exhibits, attendees will gain valuable knowledge and actionable strategies to enhance patient outcomes and promote cancer prevention.
Symposium Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:
- Provide evidence-based insights into key cancer risk factors—such as obesity, tobacco use, environmental exposures, and genetic predispositions—while clarifying health care roles in implementing prevention strategies like lifestyle interventions, vaccinations, and risk stratification tools.
- Discuss new advancements in cancer screening, genetic testing, and personalized care, emphasizing effective interdisciplinary communication to optimize patient outcomes across diverse populations.
- Identify approaches to reduce health disparities in cancer prevention and care by fostering teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration, and equitable access through innovative strategies, policy updates, and community engagement practices.
- Equip health care teams to identify high-risk individuals and deliver coordinated, patient-centered prevention and care.
