Call for Abstracts

The MSBRF Committee is accepting abstracts for original basic science or clinical science research.

Only one author (the presenting author) may submit the abstract for either an oral or a poster presentation. No dual presenters are allowed. Co-authors should not submit a duplicate abstract. 

Deadline: Friday, Dec. 8, 2023
No abstract will be accepted after the deadline.

Preparing Your Abstract File

  1. All abstracts must be in the English language.

  2. The entire abstract must fit on only one page.
    Paper size: 8.5” x 11” (letter size)
    Margins: 0.5 (top, bottom, left, and right)
    Font: Arial
    Font size: 10-12 pt

  3. Simple tables or graphs, in black ink, may be included as long as they fit within the required one-page format.

  4. The entire title must be in uppercase letters and must be made as brief as possible.

  5. The authors' names (with the MSBRF presenter’s name underlined), the name of the presenter’s school or hospital (not necessarily where the research was carried out), and the city and state must be mentioned. Do not mention the support of work by a research grant, and do not mention the participant’s degree(s), titles, institutional appointments, street addresses, or ZIP codes.

  6. Organize the body as follows. Headings are desirable, but not required. You will be judged on the following:

    • Background
    • Significance of Problem
    • Hypothesis, Problem, or Question
    • Experimental Design
    • Results/Data
    • Conclusions

  7. Nonproprietary (generic) names, written in small letters, are required the first time a drug is mentioned. Proprietary names are always capitalized.

Submitting Your Abstract

  • You must submit your abstract (.doc or .docx format) and your faculty approval form online.

  • Failure to comply with the guidelines will result in the rejection of your abstract.

  • The title of your abstract file must include the following information:
    Category: op - Oral Presentation or pp - Poster Presentation
    Student Classification: Dental, Graduate, Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy, Other
    Presenter's Last Name
    Presenter's First Name
    Document Type: Abstract or Approval

File name examples:

John Smith, a graduate student, submitting an oral presentation abstract:
op_graduate_smith_john_abstract.docx

Jane Johnson, a medical student, submitting a poster presentation abstract:
pp_medical_johnson_jane_abstract.docx

Joseph Jones, a dental student, submitting the faculty approval form for an oral presentation:
op_dental_jones_joseph_approval.pdf

  

Important

The MSBRF Committee will not edit abstracts for typing, spelling, or grammatical errors. Please carefully proofread all text for errors before submitting your abstract.

Abstracts that do not comply with the above guidelines will be rejected.
