7th Annual Scary Cases Conference

Welcome! Thank you for joining us.

This case-based conference is designed to review real-life, unique, and rare cases in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, and oral surgery. We invite participants to submit the scariest of cases to be presented and discussed in an open, collaborative forum.

Conference Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:

  1. Demonstrate how to detect otolaryngologic conditions that can easily be missed in a routine exam.
  2. Identify potential pitfalls inherent to the practice of otolaryngology that may lead to adverse outcomes or put patients at risk.
  3. Discuss legal principles of medical malpractice and identify ways to minimize the risk of malpractice in the everyday practice of otolaryngology.
  4. Recognize the role of each of our collaborating departments in treating patients with head and neck pathologies.
  5. Apply lessons learned from the management of particularly tough cases to clinical practice.

Target Audience

This accredited continuing education activity is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other health care personnel in the fields of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, and oral surgery.

    • Live stream: Type your first and last name in the Zoom chat.
  2. Complete the online evaluation via the UNMC MyCCE portal.
    • On your dashboard, click Evaluate an Activity.
    • Enter Activity Code 62117.

You have until Nov. 15, 2024, to claim credit for this activity. You will need to complete the evaluation and attest to the time you spent participating in the activity. Your certificate will be saved in your UNMC MyCCE account under Certificates & Transcripts.
