2023 Updates in Rheumatology
This symposium will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of several rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.
Symposium Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:
- Differentiate the newly recognized entity of VEXAS syndrome from mimickers such as relapsing polychondritis and other forms of systemic vasculitis.
- Implement the most appropriate diagnostic approach for patients with suspected VEXAS syndrome.
- Identify common mimickers of systemic sclerosis and means for differentiating these from presentations of diffuse or limited systemic sclerosis.
- Identify SSc patient subgroups based on autoantibody testing and outcomes associated with these differing subgroup assignments.
- Describe the relationship of COVID-19 with antiphospholipid syndrome and identify evolving laboratory approaches to the diagnosis of APS.
- Describe appropriate diagnostic and management strategies for patients with both primary and secondary Sjögren’s syndrome.
- Describe recent advances in understanding disease pathogenesis relevant to SSc, APS, and SS.

Registration Deadlines
- The deadline to register for in-person attendance is April 14.
- The deadline to register to attend the live stream via Zoom is April 18.
Cancel/Refund Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and sent by mail, fax, or email to the UNMC Center for Continuing Education. A refund of the registration fee, less $25 processing fee, will be given if the request is received by April 14, 2023. No refund will be given after this date.
