2023 Gender Care in the Heartland

This conference is dedicated to providing education on excellence in care when serving gender-diverse patients and clients. The conference is hosted by an interdisciplinary committee of professionals in the gender care field.

Conference Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be better able to:

Define the differences between sex, gender, expression, and orientation.
Identify current assessment tools and standards of care used to treat gender-diverse patients and clients.
Recall social, mental, and medical influences that impact gender-diverse patients.
Describe patient-centered approaches for providing inclusive and welcoming care for gender-diverse patients.

In support of improving patient care, University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians

The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses

The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this activity for 6.5 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim credit for the actual time spent participating in the activity.

Mental Health Providers

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs. This activity has been approved for 5.75 credit hours of continuing education credit.

Social Workers

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, University of Nebraska Medical Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 5.75 clinical continuing education credits.

The content level of this activity is intermediate/advanced.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Omaha Marriott (10220 Regency Circle, Omaha, NE 68114) at the group rate of $120 per night, plus applicable taxes. Reservations may be made online or by calling 402-339-9000 and requesting the 2023 Gender Care in the Heartland conference block rate. The last day for reservations to receive this group discount is Oct. 18, 2023. After this date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.

Walk-in Registration

Once online registration is closed, you will only be able to register on-site for the following walk-in fee:

Cancel/Refund Policy

If you need to cancel your registration, please call 402-559-5929 no later than Oct. 26, 2023. There is a $25 processing fee for cancellations made by Oct. 26. Cancellations made after this date and registrants who fail to attend are responsible for the full registration fee.
