2022 Diabetes Update
This symposium will provide an update on diabetes management with an emphasis on glucose management and monogenic diabetes. Other topics will include medication updates, diabetes and exercise, popular diets for diabetes patients, a technology discussion on the use of continuous glucose monitors, and pancreatogenic diabetes.
Symposium Objectives
At the conclusion of this symposium, the participant should be better able to:
- Describe medical treatment regimens associated with atypical diabetes such as monogenic and pancreatogenic diabetes.
- List new medications and describe changes to treatment recommendations.
- Identify ways of managing glucose levels of diabetes patients during exercise.
- Apply medical nutrition therapy interventions for popular diets and ongoing individualized diabetes management plans.
- Explain when to initiate insulin pump or CGM therapy to patients with diabetes.
- Recognize the effects of cancer treatment and the management of diabetes/hyperglycemia.

UPDATE: UNMC has updated its COVID-19 guidance in response to several weeks of lower COVID-19 risk levels across the state and the availability of COVID-19 bivalent boosters.

Instructions on how to join the live stream will be sent to registered participants via email a few days prior to the start of the symposium.

Registration for in-person attendance is open until Friday, Sept. 23. Register early. Space is limited!
Once online registration for in-person attendance is closed, you will only be able to register on-site for the walk-in fee of $170. Walk-in registrations will only be accepted if space is available; meals are not guaranteed.

Cancel/Refund Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and sent by mail, fax, or email to the UNMC Center for Continuing Education. A refund of the registration fee, less $30 processing fee, will be given if the request is received by Sept. 23, 2022. No refund will be given after this date.
