Preclinical Imaging Shared Resource

Preclinical Imaging

Supported by the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center (FPBCC), the Preclinical Imaging Shared Resource has state-of-the-art multiphoton intravital imaging equipment to acquire advanced descriptive and quantitative data from live animals and fixed samples requiring deep tissue illumination. 

Preclinical Imaging Shared Resource Specific Aims: 

  • Develop a diverse, sustainable user base using innovative, dynamic, and influential research resources available to BCC researchers and surrounding research institutions. 
  •  Acquire additional complementary, state-of-the-art imaging technologies that expand research opportunities available to current and prospective PIC users while maintaining current equipment at the PIC shared resource. 
  •  Develop a dynamic and continually evolving imaging techniques and technologies resource repository providing relevant reference materials for PIC shared resource users with differing levels of experience.

  • IVIS Spectrum 
  • Acuson512C echocardiograph and associated probes 
  • Visual Sonics Vevo 3100. 
  • Vevo 3100 with the LAZR-X 
  • Perkin Elmer Vega. 
  • Spectra-Physics InSight X3 dual NIR laser system 
  • Neurotar Mobile Home Cage

Impact

Preclinical Imaging

The Preclinical Imaging Shared Resource, located in the FPBCC and Durham Research Center I (ultrasound), provides convenient access for 80% of FPBCC members.

The Core has supported four publications and 35 grant applications, with 9% of the applications successfully awarded.
