The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center is home to state-of-the-art facilities and provides support to shared resources at UNMC.

This cutting-edge research infrastructure provides cost-efficient access for our members and for researchers across and beyond the University of Nebraska.

Supporting researchers through expertise and infrastructure is part of our intentionally designed world-class cancer center, which brings together researchers, clinicians and patients, speeding research breakthroughs to patients.

Resources

The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center supports these UNMC shared resources, specialized state-of-the-art technologies or equipment, services, and expertise that enhance cancer-related research projects.

Advanced Microscopy
The Advanced Microscopy Core Facility offers a full spectrum of biomedical imaging modalities capable of capturing complex biological phenomena occurring at single molecule, sub-cellular and cellular resolution, and tissue/small organ levels.
Flow Cytometry
The Flow Cytometry Research Facility is a shared resources laboratory at UNMC, serving researchers and surrounding institutions by providing a central location for flow cytometry instrumentation and education.
Bioinformatics
The Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Core is a university-wide resource that fosters research and teaching activities related to bioinformatics and systems biology at UNMC.
Biostatistics
Biostatistics is a special branch of applied statistics that focuses on statistical application in life sciences.
Tissue Sciences
The UNMC Tissue Sciences Facility has been established to provide basic and specialized histology, staining, immunohistochemistry, and imaging techniques to support the research community at UNMC for studies on animal and human tissues.
Tissue Procurement
The mission of the Tissue Procurement Shared Resource is to procure and coordinate distribution of fresh frozen human tissue in an optimal state of preservation for requesting investigators without impacting diagnostic quality, accuracy and safety in anatomic pathology.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy is a component of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Structural Biology Shared Resource. This powerful tool for basic research improves our knowledge at the molecular level.
Crystallography
Crystallography is a component of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Structural Biology Shared Resource. Occupying about 500 square feet of the Scott Research Tower, this facility uses robotics to automatically screen and refine crystallization conditions while maintaining detailed electronic experimental records.
Preclinical Imaging
The Bioimaging Core Facility operates two small bore high field (7 Tesla) Magnetic Resonance Imaging and MR Spectroscopy systems and one Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography scanner with an integrated X-ray Computed Tomography imaging system (SPECT/CT scanner).
Molecular Biology
The UNMC Genomics Core Facility is a comprehensively equipped facility that provides genomic services on a fee-for-use basis to the greater academic research community.
