14th Annual Wambli Sapa Memorial Powwow

April 19 @ 12:40 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

FPBCC will be in attendance to provide cancer prevention and screening education. Additionally, we will provide colorectal cancer screenings and prostate cancer screenings (PSA blood draw).

Join us for the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s 14th Annual Wambli Sapa Memorial Powwow on April 19, 2025, themed “We Are Urban: From Reservation To City Walking Between Two Worlds.”

This powwow commemorates the Indian Relocation Act of 1956, a significant policy that aimed to assimilate Native Americans into urban society by encouraging relocation from reservations to cities. This year’s theme highlights the adaptability and journeys of Native families as they navigate life in urban cultures while proudly maintaining strong connections to their ancestral reservations.

Experience a vibrant showcase of traditional dance, music, and art, as we honor our heritage and the journeys that have shaped our communities. This event fosters unity and cultural pride, inviting all to participate in the rich tapestry of Native identity and experience in both urban and rural settings.

There will be free parking available on campus. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to find a spot near the venue.

  • Invocation: 12:40 P.M. led by Dr. Rudi Mitchell, Omaha Tribe of Nebraska
