M-Health Digital Navigation Training -- Smartphone Skills for Android

Android Phones

In Module 1, parts 1 and 2, you will find resources to help you develop skills to use your Android smartphone. You will also learn about features that are common in a variety of smartphones has that you can use as tools to support your daily activities.

Basic Smartphone Skills

WiFi and Data
You will learn what Wi-Fi and mobile data are, how to connect to a Wi-Fi network and how to turn Wi-Fi on and off.
How to Download Apps
You will learn how to download apps on an Android device, what the Google Play store is, and how to open an app after downloading it.
Making Phone Calls
You will learn how to make a phone call, how to call someone on your contact list and how to answer & decline a phone call
Text Messaging
You will learn how to send a text message to an individual or a group, how to send a picture in a text message, and how to respond to a text message.
Internet Browsing
You will learn how to perform an internet search, how to go to a specific website and how to view and delete your web browser history.
Notes and Reminders
You will learn how to write, edit and save a note on an Android device and how to set a reminder.
Clock App
You will learn how to set an alarm, how to set a timer and how to adjust and delete alarms and timers.
Calendar App
You will learn how to create a new event in the calendar app, how to create an alert and how to edit and customize events and alerts.
Fitness App
You will learn what the Google fit app is, how to track your physical activity and how to track your sleep.

You will learn the purpose of meditation and how to use the Sanvello app to practice meditation.
Talking to Loved Ones
You will learn how to keep in touch with loved ones via phone calls.
Talking to Support Systems
You will learn how text messages can facilitate communication and how to use Wysa to access emotional support.
Watching Videos
You will learn the potential therapeutic benefits of watching videos and how to search for and watch a video on YouTube.
Finding Mindfulness Exercises
You will learn how to search for mindfulness exercises using a web browser.
Researching Accurate Information
You will learn how to search for health information online and how to know which online sources are trustworthy.
Photos and Videos for Mental Health
You will learn the potential mental health benefits of taking photos and how to take and view photos on your Android device.
Notes for Mental Health
You will learn the value of notes for mental health and recall how to write notes and create reminders using the Keep Notes app.
Creating a Routine
You will learn how the clock app can be used to create healthy routines and how to employ the clock app for scheduling.
Setting a Schedule
You will learn the utility of the calendar app and how to implement a schedule using the calendar app.
Exercise and Mental Health
You learn to discuss the benefits of tracking exercise and how to employ the Google Fit app to help facilitate exercise.

Technology Skills

Complications Downloading an App
You will learn how to ensure a smartphone is connected to Wi-Fi in order to successfully download an app and how to change Play Store settings to allow you to download apps using mobile data.
Unknown Acct ID or Password
You will learn how to retrieve a Google account username and how to create a new password for your Google account.
Lack of Storage Space
You will learn how to view an app’s download size from its description on the Play Store, check if your smartphone has enough space for a new app, and pursue alternatives if your phone has insufficient space for a new app.
