Alumni Reunion Weekend

Celebrating graduates from the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy with years ending in "4" and "9".

Accommodations

You can choose from two hotel blocks where we have secured discounted rates. Choose whichever hotel is the most convenient for you. Please note that this is the first year we cannot run a shuttle between the hotels and the UNMC campus. Attendees will be responsible for their own transportation throughout the weekend.

Awards

Recipients from the colleges of Medicine and Nursing will be recognized during the respective Dean's Receptions on Friday. The Pharmacy recipients were recognized during the May convocation ceremony. 

2024 Award Recipients

Confirmation

Immediately upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email with your selected events and guest(s) detailed. If you do not receive this or it is incorrect, please call the Alumni Office.

Within one week of the reunion, you will receive a second confirmation email with all the information you will need before arriving on campus. 

Registration

Advance registration is due by September 13, 2024.

Shuttle & Parking
Attendees will be responsible for their own transportation throughout the weekend. Upon arrival to campus on Friday, shuttle transportation will be provided from the parking lot to the reunion check in location. More information about this will be provided in a confirmation email to registrants. 
Tours

We have three tour options for you when you register for Alumni Reunion Weekend. You may only select one, and all tours involve varied amounts of walking, with limited opportunities to sit down.

All tours will depart from the (MSC) Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education. 

  • Option 1: iExcel in the Dr. Edwin G. & Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center and the Wigton Heritage Center 
    • iExcel showcases high-fidelity simulation and experiential learning technologies and the Wigton Heritage Center features UNMC history exhibits. 
  • Option 2: The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Chihuly Sanctuary 
    • The Chihuly Sanctuary features 10 site-specific art installations and offers a place of respite and reflection for patients receiving treatment in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. 
  • Option 3: Campus Walking Tour 
    • The walking tour will showcase various campus locations such as the renovated McGoogan Health Sciences Library, campus artwork, the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit, and more.

Sit down with 3-4 classmates and share memories from your time in nursing school for the In Your Own Words exhibit in the College of Nursing History Museum.

Beyond the Bedside: UNMC Nursing Faculty Leading the Way in Healthcare Technology
College of Nursing Center for Nursing Science, 3rd level, room 3030.  

This session will include a brief overview of two nursing faculty members’ innovations that are enhancing the healthcare experience. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the presenters and the technology. 

Featured speakers:

  • Marcia Shade, PhD ‘16, RN, assistant professor, is the Founder and CEO of Voice-It Inc., a start-up company that creates digital solutions that engage and empower health care consumers. Dr. Shade and her team are developing a conversational, AI-driven app that enables older adults to engage in real-time holistic pain assessment and verbally share their pain experience within the natural environment. 
  • Breanna Hetland, PhD, RN, CCRN, assistant professor, is the co-Founder of the Family Room, a digital health company that builds tools to humanize the hospitalization experience for patients and their family caregivers.

UNMC Center for Drug Discovery and Lozier Center for Pharmacy Sciences and Education, 2nd level, atrium. 

Pharmacy students will answer questions and share about their educational experience at UNMC while providing a tour of the new College of Pharmacy building, which opened in 2016.

This session will include a state-of-the-college update and recognition of honor-year classes. Following this, the Dean will host a reception in the atrium, where light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided.
