Public Health Alumni Awards Program

The following awards are the highest honors bestowed upon graduates and friends of the college.

How to Nominate

Nominations for 2025 Alumni Awards will be open November 1 - December 15, 2024 and award recipients will be notified in early February 2025.

This year, we are offering a simplified nomination process. Please prepare the following to nominate yourself or a colleague:

  • Required Statement of Nomination (150 words or less)
  • Optional Supplemental Links (e.g., nominee's LinkedIn, relevant articles featuring the nominee)
  • Optional Supplemental Attachments (e.g., nominee's resume/CV, letter of nomination)

Award Categories

  • The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes the achievements of alumni who have made significant contributions to the field of public health. 
  • The Early Career Achievement Award recognizes the achievements of alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the field of public health within the first five years of completing a degree from the UNMC College of Public Health.
    • The final determination of award recipients in these categories is based on an outstanding contribution to public health, including any of the following categories: leadership in public health, public health practice, teaching and scholarship, research, community/society, and/or the UNMC College of Public Health.
  • The College of Public Health Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Alumni Award was created in 2022 to recognize the achievements of alumni who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and social justice. Examples of this include, but are not limited to: 

    • A demonstrated commitment to creating a culture of inclusion within a person's areas of influence. 
    • Implemented an initiative, project, or program that cultivates, advances, or models diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
    • Served as an outstanding advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Engaged in philanthropic efforts contributing to DEI (e.g., leadership/mentorship of youth, support of civic organizations).
