Dr. Mellott was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended Iowa State University for her undergraduate studies. There she assisted in research regarding the western corn rootworm and in the organic chemistry lab and graduated with Cum Laude. After her undergraduate studies, she attended University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Physician Assistant Program and graduated in 2016. She pursued her doctorate degree in 2019 and received a Doctor of Medical Sciences from the University of Lynchburg. Since then Dr. Mellott has worked in rural emergency and hospital medicine settings. She has been a clinical preceptor for UNMC students for several years before becoming an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center PA program.
