Dr. Grammer is an accomplished academic leader and healthcare professional with extensive experience in Physician Assistant education. As Chair of the Department of Medical Sciences at the College of Allied Health Professions at UNMC since July 2020, Dr. Grammer oversees the department's academic and administrative functions, working to ensure high-quality education for students. In addition to this appointment, Dr. Grammer serves as Program Director and Associate Professor for the Physician Assistant Program at UNMC and held leadership roles at two other universities since 2010.
Dr. Grammer’s educational background includes a Doctorate of Medical Science from Lynchburg University and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Des Moines University. With a clinical background in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, and Pediatrics, Dr. Grammer brings a wealth of practical experience to his teaching responsibilities, which include coordinating and teaching in all PA specific courses and facilitating Problem-Based Learning.
In addition, Dr. Grammer is an active member of the PA education community, serving as a Director-At-Large for PAEA and as a member of several PAEA subcommittees. Dr. Grammer is also committed to serving the broader healthcare community, as evidenced by his role as Chair of the Board of Directors for Cornerstone Nonprofit Healthcare in Omaha, NE.
