The medical imaging and therapy programs within the Department of Clinical, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Sciences are mission-driven to provide a premier educational environment that prepares competent entry-level professionals who demonstrate the highest quality of patient-centered care, safety, and service.
Goals and Student Learning Outcomes
To uphold our Mission, the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program has the following goals and student learning outcomes:
To prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the abdominal-extended and obstetrical and gynecological sonography concentrations.
- Students will use proper scanning ergonomics.
- Students will optimize equipment to create diagnostic images.
- Students will exhibit professional behavior.
To prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the adult cardiac and vascular sonography concentrations.
- Students will use proper scanning ergonomics.
- Students will optimize equipment to create diagnostic images.
- Students will exhibit professional behavior.
- Students will differentiate normal from pathological process.
- Students will document sonographic findings needed for complete exam.
To prepare entry-level sonographers who effectively communicate as part of the healthcare team.
- Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills.
- Students will demonstrate effective oral communication skills.
