Tell us about your educational research interests and teaching role.
My educational research interests primarily focus on integrating advanced technologies in learning environments to enhance academic outcomes and foster personalized learning experiences. I am particularly interested in applying artificial intelligence, machine learning, and adaptive learning systems in education. My work in research often explores leveraging these technologies to create more engaging, effective, and inclusive learning environments.
What is one of your favorite/memorable teaching moments?
One memorable teaching moment occurred while I was teaching as a TA for an instructional technology course to the bachelor's degree students in Teacher Education. We covered using digital tools in classroom settings, and I organized a session where students could design their digital lesson plans. A particular student was struggling with the concept of integrating technology effectively into her lesson plans. With some guidance, she developed a strategy that effectively used technology and enhanced student engagement and learning outcomes. The moment she presented her plan and received positive feedback from her peers, her confidence soared. Seeing her overcome her doubts and apply her learning so effectively was truly rewarding and underscored the importance of supportive, practical teaching experiences in teacher education.
What do you see as the biggest benefit to being a member of the IAE?
Being a member of the Interprofessional Academy of Educators (IAE) at UNMC offers the significant advantage of connecting with a diverse community of educators across Nebraska. This membership provides a rich platform for collaboration, allowing for the exchange of innovative ideas, cutting-edge research, and growth by learning from/with other members.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
The best advice I’ve ever received is to “focus on progress, not perfection.” This simple but profound guidance has helped me navigate challenges in my personal and professional life. It reminds me that growth comes from learning through experiences, even when things don’t go exactly as planned. This perspective encourages resilience and keeps me moving forward with confidence and purpose.
