Clinical Services

Accurate diagnosis for doctors; proper treatment for patients.

Pathologists are critical members of your health care team even if you never meet them. Often referred to as the doctor's doctor, pathologists provide diagnostic services to physicians who in turn make medical decisions for their patients based on these pathological analyses. Pathologists study and diagnose disease of individual patient’s organs and tissues provided by surgery or biopsy, as well as direct laboratory facilities that test blood, urine and other body fluids.

At UNMC, we have a comprehensive group of pathologists who can give expert review of your case with the most innovative and accurate tests available. We provide regional, national and international consultation services. If you are a pathologist or physician seeking review of a surgical pathology case, we can provide a comprehensive review of a complex diagnostic dilemma. If you are a pathologist or physician seeking a review of a clinical laboratory problem or assistance with interpretation of a laboratory tests, we can provide the expertise needed to address the issue. If you are a patient or family member of a patient seeking a second opinion regarding a diagnosis or report, we offer a wide variety of consultative services for the public.
