NURSING
 more than a job - 
a Caring Career!

There are many paths to careers in nursing. The type of education a person chooses determines what type of work they can do.

Who can be a nurse?

  • People who care about others - who pay attention to and help others.

  • People who are honest and dependable.

  • People who think and can solve problems.

  • People who do well in high school courses that prepare them for college (college preparatory courses).

What makes being a nurse special?

  • Nurses have special knowledge and skills to aid, assist and protect people and to supervise others who give care. 

  • Nurses have duty or responsibility to people - for their patients' safety and protection.

  • There are many kinds of nursing. Here are some of the things nurses do:

    • giving care in many settings.

    • supervising or directing others who give care.

    • teaching new nurses.

  • Nurses contribute to the well-being of individuals or communities.

Which people need a nurse?

  • People who are sick and need help.

  • People who are unable to care for themselves.

  • People who are re-learning to care for themselves after an accident or injury.

  • People who are well and need to learn how to stay healthy.
