Our mission is to train exceptional physicians and scientists in both medical and graduate education.

We prepare future leaders in biomedicine by leveraging our unique strengths in genetics and cell biology. Our research faculty excel in areas such as genomics and bioinformatics, as well as making innovative developments within genetics, cell biology and anatomy.

The department supports the community by offering high-quality education in health professions programs and in basic and translational sciences. We manage several centers and cores equipped with cutting-edge resources, all aimed at delivering exceptional services to UNMC researchers and the medical community.
