The Department of Family Medicine held its first annual Resident Research Symposium on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Twenty-three residents presented the results of their scholarly activity projects in either poster format or in an oral presentation to their peers, department faculty and invited guests. Projects included original research, comprehensive book chapters and case reports on a wide variety of topics including breastfeeding, the UNMC Family Medicine Accelerated Residency Program, prophylactic knee bracing in college football, Wegener’s granulomatosis and physician adherence to cervical cancer screening guidelines. First place winners were Emily Jones (poster) and Andrea Jones (oral presentation), and second place winners were Andrew Opp (poster) and Mark Lussier (oral presentation).
