Sealant Program

Something to Smile About

sealant programThe Department of Dental Hygiene's Sealant Program offers oral health education, sealants, fluoride varnish, exams and referrals free of charge to elementary school children in second, third and sixth grades.  Elementary school selection is based on greater than 80% student eligibility in the free/reduced lunch program.

The Sealant Program connects the neediest children in our communities with the vastly needed preventive dental services provided through this program. As a lasting resource for our community, the Sealant Program fosters preventive behaviors and attitudes about oral health that can last a lifetime as well as contribute to a reduction in the need for expensive restorative and emergency dental services.  Ultimately, all families are referred to local public health agencies or educational institutions to assist parents in finding a dental home for their children.
