A Message from Veronica McManamon
As I had predicted earlier, the Dental Opportunities Fair last November was a big success. Many of our 2013 graduates found associateships, new partnerships with the option of purchasing, and some of our graduates started their own practice. It was a good year all around.
My friends, whether you are looking for a position, possibly returning to Nebraska after an extended absence, or are soon to graduate from dental school and want to see what opportunities are open to you, the Dental Opportunities Fair is a good place to start. On the other side of the table if you currently operate a practice or clinic and want to bring in a new dentist, possibly sell your practice or want to shorten your work week but need to keep the practice running full-time and need a partner, the Dental Opportunities Fair is also a good option.
It is not the time to be discouraged. Eleven graduates from the class of 2013, are practicing in rural Nebraska and five are practicing in the Lincoln/Omaha metro areas. Many of these placements were a result of the fair last fall. It seems to be about finding the right person at the right time and meeting each other’s needs. Every year the UNMC College of Dentistry provides the venue to bring both of these two groups together.
The annual Dental Opportunities Fair in 2013 is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 1. The Husker’s will challenge Northwestern the next day at Memorial Stadium. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. Registration information is now available on this webpage.
The Dental Opportunities Fair and Practice Seminar are in the planning stages for 2014. Dr. C. Steven Wolff, DDS, is co-owner with Debbie Wolff, of EMA Dental Practice Sales. Together they have sold 230 practices in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. This day-long program will focus on - fair market value, analyses of hard assets, patient statistics, financial records, including intangibles - all of which will make “your practice” attractive to active buyers.
Watch for more updates about this future program.
